Fairfax Media has reported today that Labor senator Sam Dastyari warned Chinese Communist Party-linked political donor Huang Xiangmo that his phone was likely tapped by government agencies, including the US government.
The face-to-face meeting took place at Huang’s Mosman mansion in Sydney following his resignation from the frontbench after it was revealed he asked the same billionaire to pay a legal bill for him. Before the two spoke, Mr Dastyari allegedly gave Mr Huang counter-surveillance advice, saying they should leave their phones inside and go outside to speak. It remains unclear what was discussed at this meeting without their phones.
Senator Dastyari has been caught out AGAIN. This is another clear example of the influence of foreign donors in our democracy and why the government must move today to stop foreign donations to political parties, third parties and associated entities.
